I found a site with links to mediafire. the info on the shows have flac / shn lineage and other info such as spectrum analysis. files are RAR and i was wondering if this takes anything from the source being split like this? thanks for help with this

No. If the rar files have md5s or ffps included, you'll find that they match, once all the files are extracted - all else being equal.

It's something like a zip file, I gather - you need something called 'unrar' to extract them.....

yes...just unzip em n see what they hold. Used for rapidshare n the like.

program is called Win-Rar--used for the extraction
Rar's normally can be joined with a free program called H-J Split

RAR files were created for Usenet, just FYI.

That have superior spanning ability, meaning you can split one file into many files. This was helpful to overcome some usenet severs' line-limits per message. RARs are still heavily used on usenet, and also, to some extent, PAR files which can help re-create the complete RAR file if part of the RAR is missing from the usenet sever.

RARs also come in handy for sharing DVDs on HUBs.
When you are downloading directly from only one user.
