Depending on your needs:
DVDStyler: http://www.dvdstyler.org/
DVD Flick: http://www.dvdflick.net/
DVDAuthorGUI: http://download.videohelp.com/liquid217/dvdauthorgui.pl
GUI for DVDAuthor/Muxman: http://download.videohelp.com/GFD/

The easiest to use (IMHO) is DVD Flick. :)

I feel like a complete ignoramus about this, but I just can't seem to find a program that will let me do this:

All :) I want to do is take two already authored titles of say 2GB each, and put them together onto one DVD, with me adding a top menu. While keeping the existing menus for each title. Being able to go PAL to NTSC would be nice too, though not essential. Everything I seem to find seems unable to import the pre-authored menus.

It seems to me it can't be a hard thing - but outside of a "real" authoring program like DVDLAB (which makes my head spin and anyway is meant for more sophisticated stuff than what I'm trying to do) - I just don't get it.

Any help/suggestions?

dunno about any free authoring progs, but as far as i know no authoring prog will import the .vob files as is

you will need to:
1. demux the .vob files, which leaves you with a video stream [.m2v] and an audio stream [.wav or .aiff]
2. import the .m2v & .aiff files into yer authoring program
3. create yer menu(s) and then author

well, thank you... I do know how to author a dvd, I just can't figure out how to import already-made menus into an authoring program. But thanks anyway.

i can recommend "dvdflick" for beginners because it is very easy to use with simple control interface. the one capable of importing menus is "convertx to dvd" which is not for free.

If you find out, let us know. As far as I'm aware, it isn't possible.
