I'm looking for a way to add audio (from a SBD/FM source) to a DVD. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I'm on a Mac and I'd prefer to not have to buy expensive software. Any ideas?

Thanks.

What you are proposing is not on the same level as rocket science, but if you don't have any experience in authoring DVDs (which I get the feeling is the case), it'll be like trying to learn how to swim by first diving into the deep end of the pool.

I don't work on a Mac, so I can't answer your question about software.

But you need to:

1. demux the existing audio from the DVD
2. get your alternate audio source to match it - which almost will certainly require some stretching or crunching (not to mention a few other minefields you need to cross)
3. re-author the DVD with the new audio

You'd be much better off finding someone who has the experience to do this and send the DVD and audio to that person.

videohelp.com is a great resource for all things video. Lots of tutorials and software links and several forums, including a mac specific one, to post for help. I'd suggest heading over there and taking a look around.

Thanks for the replies. I will definitely check out the link.

I have software that will extract the DVD video, which I have tested in the past and it seems to work fairly well. I never thought about how the synch would be affected. Hmmm. Well, i think the swimming analogy is a perfect one for this case.

I don't personally know of anyone that would have the time or interest for my little project, so I'll just have to poke around on videohelp and see what I can find out. I think this project will end up being just a dream.

Thanks again for the replies.

for demuxing, MPEGStreamclip (http://www.squared5.com/) is a decent freeware prog...there are numerous others tho

for dvd authoring, the most popular would be DVD Studio Pro (http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/dvdstudiopro/)...but you could also use iDVD or i think even Roxio Toast for very basic authoring/menus/etc
