I am sorry if this has been answered a million times, but I just moved and had my utorrent working before with a static ip and forwarded port on a wireless router. Now, I am plugged into the wall (I guess dsl) I don't know. The service is included in my rent. I am in Taipei, Taiwan.

I don't really know where to start since I am not using a router this time around. I can't wait to get back into sharing! Thanks so much for any and all help in advance.

Most likely you won't be able to forward your ports. So, your just gonna have to live with what you get.

This site has a lot of information and tools (maybe check your speed?)

Thanks for your replies,

Lynne, are you saying that you think there is nothing I can do to become connectable? (I assume unless I set up my very own connection and stop using what is provided for me) If I don't do that, no one will be able to connect to me?

I'm just thinking you aren't going to be able to talk the person in charge of the router into forwarding your port for you. I don't know, maybe you can, but most people running torrents on a shared network tend to want to keep a low profile.

All being firewalled means is that you won't be able to connect to other users who are firewalled. You will still be able to connect to unfirewalled users if you remain firewalled.
