View Full Version : Anyone Having Trouble With uTorrent?

For five or six weeks now (can't remember properly, as I have been away for a month), I have been having problems with torrenting. I thought it was ISP throttling (which I guess it could still be), but they insist they are not doing this. Given that I have a 50gb a month fair-use contract, I would certainly hope they are not throttling, as I rarely get half of that total per month.

The symptoms generally are that I cannot upload/download in the evening, but can in the morning. The ISP tech guy said my line was not being p2p throttled (though he did say that p2p would not get priority if the line was heavily contended) and that there was no contention on the line, so I should be ok. I got to 6pm when the stuff I was seeding on Dime (sorry) stopped and I cannot open a new torrent. However, I am now connected here to the These Arms Are Snakes torrent (and to an old Cream one) and I'm transferring data no problems.

uTorrent was 1.8.1 and since the other day, 1.8.2.

So... Is there a problem with my ISP, uTorrent, or...?

Any thoughts welcome.

This is getting weirder. On the TAAS torrent here, I am not shown as firewalled, though on the Dime torrent, I am. There seems to be a common denominator here...

I am seeding on TTD and Dime using uTorrent (1.8.2) without any problems. I have at&t/sbcglobal as my ISP.

FYI,
Chris

The bastards lied, or didn't know the blocking was going on. Last night I was seeding over there with my port showing as not firewalled. Shortly before 6pm, I was showing as firewalled, but not on TTD torrents.. I also managed to download a show overnight. Blocked, throttled, whatever. New ISP please!

I'm on Comcast and have to regularly change the port assignment in utorrent.
After a few weeks of heavy usage, the port goes dead. Once I change the
port in utorrent and open the new one in my router everything is fine again.

This little cat and mouse game has been going on with them for about six
months now.

Not only do I have my activity, but three kids with heavy internet usage as well......
