This is from an email I just got:
mp3 links removed
If anyone knows of others, please share! Thanks! Also, that should be bootlegs, not "bootlets"

Shame, I thought for a moment or two that 'bootlet' was a new, trendy moniker for a bootleg listener....

similar to Fripp referring to a single audience member as an 'audient' ....

for Guns N' Roses Lossless audio i seriously recomend www.gnrsource.com. Direct server downloads. No rapidshare/megaupload/torrents.

Over 200 shows in flac.

Jamie is talking about the links in the first post. He's being a better mod than I cuz I didn't even bother to check them out and see what format they were. All I did was post that we should only have lossless links here. I think I need to go back to mod school. :disbelief

Those sites allow BOTH lossless and lossy formats. There is NOTHING wrong with lossy. How else are people supposed to put songs on their mp3 players without converting them? Also, some people have dial up and monthly bandwidth caps and either don't want to wait a super long time or use up their caps so lossy format is best for them. I always try to get lossy format if I can and if not, I convert it.

If you want lossy files, that's fine. If others want lossy files, that's fine too.

But this is a site dedicated to lossless audio, and as such links offering lossy files are not allowed.

I'm all for lossLESS files and all (I can't stand the jingle bells cymbals of any eMPty3 I hear!), but banning links to anything I don't think is right...

...I do think if someone's gonna put a link up they should tell it like it is and clearly state that it is to lossy / lossless / whatever, though! If someone's into only lossless and they waste their time signing up to that mystery link, that's not fair.

I propose a full disclosure policy : if you're gonna post a dumbass lossy link, you should say it's to lossy files, lossless files, or a mixture of both on the site.

I guess "buyer beware" is the golden rule here! haha
