Hello all,
First off, thanks for such a wonderful forum. Much appreciated. I use the following app for burning :

http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/

I am running OSX Leopard latest version 10.5.5. I also use xACT for decoding/encoding. Mac users I am counting on you to let me know if these are the only apps I need in order to convert VOB, BUP, IFO, etc. files to a format for playing the DVD's on any DVD player? As always, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You should not have to "convert" your DVD files in order to burn them. The video downloads here are required to have the correct folder structure. You should have a VIDEO_TS folder which will contain your vob, ifo, and bup files and that folder is what you need to burn. An EXTRAS_TS folder may also be included in the burn. (Usually the burning application will also add a blank AUDIO_TS folder).

I'm on a Mac, and I use Toast. I'm not familiar wih the application you are using, but I think you can do a Data disk, select DVD (UDF) and then give the disc a title and drag the VIDEO_TS and EXTRAS_TS folder into the disc and burn.

never used that prog since i use toast like U2Lynne^^, but the Guides page on Burn's site tells you how:
http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/Burn%20Guides/

--Click on "Burning Data Disks" and follow the steps
--Drag the VIDEO_TS folder of the show yer trying to burn to the window [step 2]
--Select "DVD-Video" as yer filesystem type [step 3]

that should work in yer DVD player [depending on make/model/age]...if not, you might try creating 2 folders on the disc--the VIDEO_TS folder and an empty AUDIO_TS folder--some DVD players need an AUDIO_TS folder to play properly, so the prog might add on its own

fwiw, it sounds like you were using the "Burn Video Disks" tab, which that prog tries to encode, or in this case re-encode, the files -- you do NOT want to do that [it'll ruin the quality of the video]

If you burn an UDF disk please make sure that you select UDF 1.02 (file system version). DVD burnt as UDF 1.5 or higher will not be recognised by a standalone player.

I don't think you get a choice - I know I don't in Toast. I would guess that if you have a recent version of the software, it is using the more recent version of UDF.

Thanks so much everyone! Problem solved! Very new at this and without noticing, just burned data and stand alone had no idea what to do with it. Much appreciated. Robert.

God, DVD must be burnt as UDF 1.02 otherwise a DVD player won't see it. Such is DVD-Video specification, no "upgrades", period.

UDF 2.5 is for example used by Xbox. If you have no a special driver installed, PC refuses to read the disc.

Whoops. I guess I don't always read for comprehension. Sometimes I just skip ahead in my thoughts even though I shouldn't!

You use DATA, but the DVD-ROM option - http://u2lynne.sandsmuseum.com/burning.html#anchor6 Works just fine for me.
