Avatar Question

I have an animated GIF that i want to use for an avatar, but it's 60kb larger than TTD allows. How do I edit the GIF image to make it smaller and retain the animation? What software do I need.?

Ulead GIF Animator 5 is the best, imo, but it's not free.
