I like plextor burners---currently using one without lightscribe as I feel that is what kills most burners!
CD's= taiyo yugen(my spelling sux)
dvd's= I use dvd+r's from ty and maxell and the best dual layer dvd's seem to come from verbatim!

very good advice above. except I would avoid maxell media.

plextor burners and Taiyo Yuden media is the best you can get.

Maxell is first grade media, alongside Sony, Verbatim and TDK.

If they are made in Japan, then they are very good, almost as good as Taiyo Yuden (which is exclusively made in Japan). If they are made in Taiwan, India, or China, then not nearly as good. Not sure how easy it is to find Japanese made Maxell, Sony, and Verbatim. Also, not sure if TDK makes any discs in Japan. :hmm: The Verbatim DVD+R DL's made in Singapore are very good as well.

Some of my older Maxell are unreadable and sort of brown on the surface. Even though they were always well stored.
