i have a number of boots on cassette from back in the day. is there preferred software to use to convert the cassettes to wav?
then, when i make the torrent, what would the lineage be -
Aud ( unknown generation cassette) > lp ripper > wav >
?
thanks in advance.
may dust off some old cassettes, including some shows that i taped that i didn't trade much or possibly at all - mostly death metal and thrash stuff

Not really. I wouldn't use an LP one, I'd use Cooledit, Audacity, Wavepad... Just use the google.

You're correct on the lineage. Try to say what generation it is, what equipment used, and etc. (... > ?)

Program really doesn't matter. Just make sure to record in PCM WAV format at at least 16 bit / 44.1KHz, which is CD quality. If you have an external A/D converter that can sample at higher rates it wouldn't hurt.

And shut all sounds from Windows etc. while transferring via Line-In!! I´ve had huge problems in the recent months with transfers...smal drop-outs or clicks, hopefully due to the PC I used, working on a brand new Notebook right now and will try again.

I'd also do a search to see if any of those shows exist in digital form already, and compare them to your to see which is better. btjunkie.org is a BT search engine, which is a great tool to see if your shows have already been transferred.
