Hey - Anyone out there able to transfer a digimaster of an audio album on a BETA Sony L-250pro to CD? Any tips on where I may be able to do this, or if YOU might be able to help? Thanks so much. Paul

I got your PM. I can probably help you out. Sony L250 is just the length of the tape. Is this recorded in the fabled Beta 1 speed?

would you have to use a digital beta deck to transfer this?

Hi VladSmythe - Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I really dont know the speed it was recorded, but it is certainly on BETA cassette. What do you think? Would it be possible to transfer? Thanks so much, Paul (Jerusalem, ISR)

Although I really dont know the speed it was recorded, it is certainly on BETA cassette, so I am really looking for someone with a BETA deck to transfer on to CD. Can you help?

Hey I'm thinking it's probably a digital master like encoded with an outboard PCM unit. I've heard sone live stuff that was recorded on a Beta/PCM unit, where a SBD was put on the PCM track (uses video track to record PCM digital signal - looks like some swirly color bits with no sound unless properly decoded) and an AUD feed was put to the HiFi tracks. Later it was easy to matrix mix...
So I think not only will you need to find a good Beta deck, but a video > PCM decoder to do it. It's been a while since I've seen one - I don't even remember the model #...

Sorry, I can't help. Maybe you could call some professional video production companies and see if they have the gear needed and would transfer it for a fee?

a pro transfer to a different media is around $25. anyone here know how to use google ?
if not, a phonebook works well. Look under V for video.
and get the facts straight on betamax audio recording.
