Do you use the verify data box after burning a dvd? Or is the disc good to go. Thanks...

I'm on a Mac and use Toast to burn data, but I always let it verify the disc after I've burned it. It takes less than ten minutes and it has caught some errors. If you are going to go through and run md5s or ffps on all the files after a burn, then I suppose you could do without verifying. (I do run md5s/ffps but not always on 100% of the files on the disc.)

I make two copies of every DVD I download. I don't verify those. I also make a data disc copy of the entire folder, to include md5s and text files. I always verify these discs.

If you have in mind Nero then better don't use this option as it's very slow. I use md5 for a standard verification, and most often http://www.cdspeed2000.com (Disc Quality, scanned at 8x)

Excellent point - lest we forget what md5 is actually for.:thumbsup

Not only is it slow, but it's sometimes inaccurate. I've had it verify written data as okay and then had the same disc fail a md5check.
