While using TY 8x disc and burning at 4x it takes about 30 minutes to copy and burn a boot. Should it be taking less time than that. Could I burn at 8x and if I did would it have any effect
Thanks :)

I just went through quite a few TY Premium where I burned at 8x (using Nero), most of them turned out to be coasters. I reburned at 4x, every one of them work perfectly. The discs were all from the same spindle.

full speed ahead & damn the torpedoes !

at full speed my sony burner never goes over 10x. I've never seen it hit 16x
maybe it does..i dont have time to watch it.

probably havent had a bad burn in 6 months

(takes about 4mins to burn a dvd)

what am i saying ?!
Im saying, its not your burner or your discs - its your data throughput
(you have a bottleneck to fix) imo

Thanks :)I think that is about right, time wise with the speeds you are using. You could burn at 8x, but I would not recommend it if it's something you want to keep. I have had problems with discs burned at high speeds. Some burners/discs work better than others but I still would not do it.

I am assuming you mean copy and then burn. If you are burning straight off a hard drive at 4x it should take about 15 minutes. so 15 minutes to copy, then 15 minutes to burn.
