Torrent freeze??

I have some weird issues going on and need some help.

Certain Video torrents I am trying to download freeze while downloading. Meaning my client literally freezes up and the torrent is not active.

My first thought was that the hard drive I was downloading to might be going so I stopped using that drive.


Then I took the partially downloaded file and copied it over to another drive and continued to try and download the torrent but once again it freezes

Lastly I try deleting the whole file and starting from scratch but yet again same shit

At the same time I have been connected to 2 other torrents for days and seeding like a madman

Any thoughts are appreciated

how many torrents are you running at once?
how much hd space do you have free on the drive you are saving to?

Bit torrent t-0.3.8 bit tornado
3 torrents at same time
50 plus gig available


I have had 10 going at the same time before without issue
With 2 mg up and 2 mg down it shouldnt be an issue

ok, try going to Prefs, Advanced, and reduce "Max peer connections" to 60 or below.

On the torrents you are running, what are the seeder / peer counts?

What are the overall sizes of each of the torrents? Video sets can get a bit large and some clients don't handle having too many PIECES well, so if the seeder didn't make his pieces large enough, your client could be choking on the thousands of little pieces.

also, I'd suggest trying uTorrent 1.6 or better since it doesn't have any problems with any of that. Smooth sailing, better organization, less memory usage, etc..

How big are the videos that are getting 'stuck'? And at what download size are they getting 'stuck' at? I remember an issue for PC users where videos would get stuck at 4GB, it had to do with the drive formatting, but I rarely hear of this happening anymore.

I reduced the max peer connections to 50 and so far so good
