AFAIK there are no consumer CD players that will play the files as is, they need to be decoded to wave then burned to audio CD. There are plugins for NERO to decode and burn on the fly.

Follow this Foobar2000 guide that Five did:

http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1112&highlight=foobar

Instead of converting SHN to FLAC, just convert to WAV. Follow the same procedure for FLAC files.

Load them in Foobar (FLAC or SHN) and convert them to WAV files.

Once you have WAV files, create/burn an audio CD with them. Verify that it's working properly, then delete the WAV files off of your hard drive. Keep the FLAC or SHN files archived.

Do a search on Archiving and you'll see a bunch of ways that people store their shows.

The Mamba makes a great suggestion :thumbsup

foobar2000 can do it all. decode to WAV, burn an audio cdr, then delete the WAVs and save all the files you originally downloaded to a data cdr/dvdr.

lots of other ways to skin a cat follow the links in my signature.

feel free to ask as many questions as you want to.
