mac osx, new cable modem, very lazy, help?

so, before i moved out, my ports were all proper and i wasn't firewalled. not i have a new place and a new comcast modem and i really just want someone to tell me how to make my sharing work better. if anyone feels like helping a poor simpleton share the grooves more readily, please do tell.
