:hmm: Ok, I have an odd problem. I just started using Bit Comet. It seems to work fine, although I think it would be confusing for the noob. I am downloading the 75 Who dvd. It goes along fine, and I see me on the peer list on ezt.

But eventually, I get this error:

Error: Tracker Response Error: don’t hammer this tracker with multiple announcements for a torrent in Tracker: http://b0.easytree.org/announce.php/8357eb4868badcf003c6f89e5265bfd1/announce
(the latter part is the announce thread)

When this appears, I no longer appear on the peer list. But I still download /upload fine. But no credit for s/r, and that matters in some places. I don’t see any kind of setting remotely related to this. Any ideas?

BTW, I started using this over the old reliable Shad0w client because I got this weird error ERROR - rejected by tracker - unsupported tracker protocol - please upgrade your client at JamToThis. So I figured it was time to upgrade. The Bit Tornado site has been down for months, so I went for B/C.

(a reprint of my thread at r-o)

Did you have problems when you first tried opening the torrent? The error you are getting sounds like one you would get when the same torrent keeps asking the tracker to update it with status. So, it's almost like you have that torrent opened a few too many times. I would try rebooting, if possible. I'm sure there is some simpler way besides rebooting, but I'm not a PC person so I can't tell you how to do that.

edit: Spe, I know your post was here. Why'd you delete it?

Hmm. No reason. Can you see all the posts that get deleted?

I saw it before I went to post and then when I posted I saw you had deleted it. That's all.

BitComet has a very nasty habit of hammering the tracker (sending frequent repeated announcements) when an announcement is not acknowledged by the tracker. Rather than send another in a minute or two, it starts sending them every 10-15 seconds. Trackers don't like that and will tell you so, sometimes disconnecting you altogether as you may have seen.

If it were me, I'd stop using BitComet.

BTW, I have no problem getting to the BitTornado site.

That was my original plan, but that site has been dead for like 2 months.

I'm going back to my old Shad0w client.

That link to BitTornado is fine. If you can't get there, perhaps it is a DNS issue or some other routing problem. No need to go back to the Shad0w client when there have been many improvements since then.

If you PM me, I'll drop it on some web space over the weekend and send you a link where you can download it.

I just installed the Bit Tornado client - the site works fine - and so does the client. Give it a go. :)
