I need to free up some disc space on my hardrives. A while ago you folks turned me on to fubar so now I can play my flac and shn fles with out converting them to wav. So now I need to convert those files that I converted to wav , to flac.
I did a serch on the tecnobabble forum and did not realy find anythig. any help would be great. And a guide like the Shn to flac guide would be realy great :hmm: :D

Foobar can convert your files to FLAC (right-click, Convert > Settings...) (RainDawg's approach)
FLAC Frontend (http://mikewren.com/flac/) can also convert your wav files to FLAC (my approach)
dBpowerAMP Music Converter (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm) is also capable of creating FLAC files (third party approach)

shntool is a handy tool http://www.etree.org/shnutils/shntool/

If your not big on using MS-DOS, you can use
Multi-Frontend http://members.home.nl/w.speek/multi.htm or Batchenc http://members.home.nl/w.speek/batchenc.htm are very easy programs.

I find Batchenc a very cool program and easy to use.

Honestly, using FLAC frontend is easy, clean, and does the task perfectly. That would be the recommended method. I do mine with foobar (of course) just because I try to have as few programs installed on my computer as possible.

Either way, you've just gotten a list of 4-5 things to try, so go for it!

Foobar works real nice, and I have already freed up 15 gigs.
