I need to get an mp4 player/converter for mac.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me which one
is the best to use.

Thanks :)

I have been using sound converter that was recommended by a pal. It works but is at times clunky. Sometimes I just need to drop n drag the files a few times to get them to convert.
VLC plays everything once the files are straight. It is a great video player for even my pal videos.
HOWEVER, I've only been at this torrent stuff for a month or two so I may be typing out my rear.

I've got a concert in an .mp4 video file that I would like to
burn to a dvd.In quicktime all I get is a white screen but
the audio is fine. vlc plays the vid and audio perfectly but
it won't export to other file formats that I know of.
I'm on a mac and I've been trying to figure this out all day
with no luck. If anyone knows of anything that would make
this work it would be greatly appreciated.

sorry if this question/problem has been posted in the forum
before, I couldn't find it myself. I'm just getting really
frustrated.

Thanks

i'm pretty sure MPEG Streamclip (http://www.squared5.com/) will do convert mp4 to a compatible format

of course, it shouldn't be traded or seeded being that its lossy, but for personal viewing :thumbsup

It sounds as though you need to install Perian (http://perian.org/#download) in order to allow playback/conversion with QuickTime and thus MPEG Streamclip. Failing that, it's likely that ffmpgX (http://homepage.mac.com/major4/) will handle conversion as it exists completely separately from the QuickTime Framework. VisualHub (http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/) provides a slightly less complicated interface but is not free.

In order for us to help you further, open the file in VLC and Get Info (command-I). Select the Advanced Information tab and report what info it gives about Stream 0 and Stream 1.

Awesome, Perian worked perfectly.
I was about to give up hope :)
Thanks a lot!
