Ive been using nero for as long as i can remember and really want to try something else. The reason for this is i think nero is probably causing slight glitches( digital sound, not pixelation) when capturing video, and ruining what are otherwise flawless recordings.Ive seen dvds with menus that have a list of the tracks, instead of the buttons you get when using nero.So is there any software thats better than nero for capturing from mini dv to pc and for making menus with track titles listed and not the buttons.

Hey Pepper, don't forget the wonderful resources over at videohelp.com. They have a lot of tutorials and software links and a good help forum.
