I just got a Mac a couple of weeks ago, and now I'm starting to want to post some cool audio and video sets and download some stuff, but nothing is working and I can't seem to download anything at all. What software do I need to download a video file and burn it to dvd with and intel Mac OSX? I really need some help here.

You might want to take a look at our Software Links in our FAQ, or better yet just search this forum and you would find this thread: http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/showthread.php?t=22626

I switched to Mac recently also and havn't done any dvd's yet. But for torrents I use Bits on wheels http://www.bitsonwheels.com/ and burn with Dragon Burn http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Utilities/Dragon-Burn.shtml and use Xact for decoding shn and flac http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21952

I think Dragon burn has dvd burning also for decrypting dvd (again I havn't used it yet) but there is Mac the ripper http://www.mactheripper.org/
They have some links for shrinking software on the site as well. Hope that helps you.

I've got Azureus now and I'm downloading (i think). The files are .VOB, and I'm not quite sure what kind of software I'll need to eventually burn. The links from this site should give me all I need. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't have to spend like $100 on Toast.

Yeah, and also, how do I get un-firewalled. That's really annoying because the site isn't built around firewalling. I can turn it on or off through my system preferences, but it makes no difference.

you need to forward your ports not only in your firewall, but also in yer router...check portforward.com for instructions pertaining to yer particular router model

I strongly, STRONGLY suggest you do NOT use Bits on Wheels. It doesn't play well with the tracker and can totally mess up your stats. It has also been banned from several other bittorrent sites.

Crom, if you are downloading a DVD, then you should be getting a VIDEO_TS folder with a bunch of ifo, bup and vob files. Check out this: If you have a VIDEO_TS folder and want to burn it with freeware (http://u2lynne.sandsmuseum.com/burning.html#anchor11) (look for that section, it's near the bottom) and you should be able to burn a DVD that way (all freeware as the link says).

Try turning off your firewall in your System Preferences and then go to portforward.com, the Port Forwarding section, select your router from the list, then Azureus, and it will give you step by step instructions on how to forward your ports so you aren't firewalled any longer.
