Losslessly combining two DVD5 to one DVD9

I have looked around videohelp.com for awhile and couldn't find anything particularly helpful on this. Does anyone have a good way to losslessly (without reencoding I guess) combine two DVD5's into one DVD9? I thought it might be nice to be able to put both discs onto one since I have a new dual layer burner to play around with. Thanks.

simply put, you can demux the two discs, combine in an editing program, and then reauthor in your dvd authoring prog...but knowing yer OS will help...

Think about three issues:
1. DL blanks are still 6 to 8 times more pricy than DVD5.
2. Perhaps there is a program, maybe DVD Decrypter or such, which can 'glue' two discs, however you will loose menus, and disc may not play correctly - see problems reported on this and other forums.
3. If you want menu(s), you would need to reauthor DVD.

on PC, you can use anything from the cheap end [TMPGEnc] to the higher end pro apps such as Sony Vegas Suite or Adobe Premier Suite...

unless the program yer using can deal with .vob files directly, first you'll need to demux the discs to m2v [for the viedeo] and either PCM or ac3 [audio] depending on what the source dvds are...hopefully someone will chime in with the best prog for demuxing on PC, i remember there being a program called VirtualDub but its been years...you'll use the m2v & PCM [or ac3] files for synching/etc in yer editing/authoring suite...

**be sure not to re-encode the video in this process, since you don't want or need to compress the footage twice

I like TMPGenc Xpress for demux on a pc. works very well. One button stuff. Just select the vob and hit demux. That easy. Then use your authoring program to group all the mpgs and wav files. This is where you add the chapter points and make the menus. You're looking at atleast 4 hours per disc to demux, reauthor, etc. I don't think it's worth it unless it's really important stuff for you.

me/Spiritinaphoto are going to put together a demux tutorial as soon as I get around to getting the screen caps ready.... soon. look for that.

If you want to preserve the original menus then DvdReMake (http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremake/index.php) is what you need (http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/ht_merge_full.php) .
