Hi, I never tried to convert any of my VHS, but only because of my lack of knowledge regarding VHS/DVD conversions. I do have a tv card and think I could connect it with my VCR and play the VHS, haven't ried this yet though. But how am I supposed to convert them to MPEG-2? Is there any software that captures the video when I play it on my pc? or do I need pro-equipment for doing things like that... any help is much appreciated. thanks for reading.

Sony Vegas to capture. Sony DVD Architect to author to DVD. plug VCR to TV card. capture. render. author.

Alternatively -
Use whatever software came with your TV Capture card, press play on the VCR and "capture" that data stream as a .avi file (Although the one I used at my last job actually does compress the data into .mpg on the fly).
Anyway, so then use TMPGEnc (freeware) to convert the .avi to .mpg, then you can use whatever DVD burning software that came with your DVD burner to create a DVD video out of the .mpg file(s).
