I'm going to do a music blog and I'd like any suggestions on what software to use. Preferably freeware. I don't want to use a blogging site, cuz i'm gonna run this off of my site. thanks

I've been researching this question myself, and here's a few good free ones:

WordPress (http://wordpress.org/about/features/)...probably all you need if you're just doing a blog with the software
Drupal (http://drupal.org/features)...looks like it can do more than just blogs (i.e. it could handle forums and other such things), this is the one I've been considering most strongly for the blog/fancy tradelist site I've been planning for ages
Blojsom (http://wiki.blojsom.com/wiki/display/blojsom/Features)...I'm not certain if it's as flexible as Drupal, but it's probably more flexible than WordPress

Thanks for teh suggestions. i think my extrememly limited computer abilities are not gonna be able to operate those programs well enough. i might have to hire you out to build a site for me or something.

Also, i need a suggestion on a good webhosting company for a blog cuz i'm pretty sure the one i use now is a ripoff.
