In the Audio Seeding policy it states that seeded torrents must have
FLAC fingerprints. What are they? How are they created? I have some
shows I would like to share and plan to use FLAC encoding, what is the best
(and cheapest) software option for a Mac user?

Thanks.

You will want to get xACT (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21952) for your Mac. It's basically an all-in-one program for your lossless downloading. Once you open it, go to the Checksum tab, put all your flac files in there and click on Checksum and then you will get three options: Fingerprints, shntool md5 , and Verify - ask for shntool md5 (you could ask for Fingerprints, but shntool md5 is preferred). It will ask your where to save them, select the folder with the flac files and viola! You are done. When you go to upload the torrent, you can open the st5 file (that is the extension for the shntool md5s) in your favorite text editor and copy/paste them into that part of the form.
