The title says it all. I am trying to get a sound clip from a movie to mix into a project I am working on and I was wondering if there is a way to rip the audio from the DVD.

Yes, there is a way. The best place to find that information is at videohelp.com . They have tons of tutorials over there and I'm sure there is one for you and the software you have.

videohelp tutorial search:http://www.videohelp.com/guides

One of the tutorials they link to: http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/136/59/

I use "ImTOO DVD Audio Ripper." Works great and I think it was free (or at least maybe there is a free demo).

use tmpgenc xpress to demuliplex the .vob file from the dvd. this will break the dvd into it's video and audio. Then use whatever audio editing program you use to clip it.
