I need a descent soundcard and will opt for one of these, the audiophile2496 or the latest 192.

I have seen a few others from m-audio but they seem a little more than what I will be using it for. The largest difference is that the 192 is virtualy double in price.Would it be worth spending the extra money?

What do you think?

Unless 16 MIDI channels and surround sound capability are important to you, the 192 isn't worth the extra $70

Do you mean it will produce a surround sound for dvd video, audio,or both?

What does the 2496 produce?..2.1?

the 192 is a 4-in, 4-out card... its like two 2496 cards put together, useful for recording musicians. you will be find with the 2496 (which is 2-in, 2-out), and judjing by what I can read about it the quality will be equal.
