These look lossy sourced to me, if you guys could give me a final say on it that would be great. The thing that bothers me the most about this is that i received these SHN's through a mail trade with a member of this board.

Plot Spectrum for first track tested:

Freq Analysis for first track tested:

Plot Spectrum for second track tested:

Freq Analysis for second track tested:

Also on the first track i messed with one of the choices for freq analysis and i got this (i assume it doesn't mean anything)
http://img44.exs.cx/img44/6735/freqanal158uj.jpg

I ran the md5's and they all checked out fine, also i checked for SBE's and there were none (which doesn't have anything to do with the lossy source really) Also here is the text file i received with the shn's:

David Coverdale & Jimmy Page
"Live In Japan" (GR-0396A/B)
December 15, 1993
Budokan Hall - Tokyo, Japan

Silver CD> wav(viaEAC)> shn(via mkw ACT)

*No full track reposts by me*

NOTE: There is a mildly distracting "crackle" throughout louder sections of the recording.
Mostly this occurs during vocal passages. Other than that, it's a very good audience recording.

The freq analysis actually looks ok, no steep dropoff to indicate a lossy source. Looks more like a broadcast of some form, either TV or radio.

Your spectral plots are not captured correctly, as the high end there is only at 7KHz. This should go all the way out to 22KHz to get an nice look at the full range of a typical CD audio track. Perhaps fix this and repost and I'll take another look for you.

I doubt it's a TV or radio broadcast, as all the Coverdale/Page bootlegs (except for the Rehearsals wich is soundboard) are audience recordings. Though this could be some new source?

Ya know, I have this bootleg in MP3, so lossy sources of this are around :(

The text file said it was from a bootleg but appearently it's not from the most common bootleg because they are listed here for the Coverdale/Page tour:

http://www.stryder.de/coverpage.html

And the bootleg title for the 15th listed in the text file i have isn't on this list

Yeah, it's this one:

Doesn't say though if it's an audience recording.

Your bootleg may be legit. I have the show of the 18th ('Over Now' in lossless format) and this is the results I get. It's kinda hard to compare with your pics (different software), but it kinda looks the same (the frequency seems to go down at around 18-19-20K).

I know comparing 2 different shows from 2 different sources doesn't prove anything, but if they look similar, it could assist in solving the problem.

It's an aud recording, as far as i know the rehearsals is the only sbd from the Coverdale/Page era, that has been released so far at least.

okay, since this isn't FM my best guess is 32kHz DAT with pitch correction. It doesn't appear to be from a lossy source.

Judging from that last pic, yup, doesn't appear to be lossy. It's a good source (unlike the C/P torrent posted on Royal-Orleans this past week :lol )

I was planning on uploading it there, i promised to upload a Modest Mouse DVD here also so i'm going to figure which goes first. And thanks Five for giving me the final word on the source of this!
