I have I hope a simple question. First I had two concerts on my full hard drive that I did not yet back up. I wanted to transfer my files and settings to a second hard drive that was bigger. I tried something that I never did before, and that was use the files and settings transfer wizard from my XP cd. I tried to transfer my files/settings from my 40 gig (C:) drive to my 80 gig (E:) drive. I hit the go tab and walked away from it. Later I noticed that it said "Compressing C: (files)" Did this just compress my concert files? I made an MD5 before I used the wizard and after I transfered I did a checksum verification and it said no errors. How can I tell if a VOB file has been compressed to lossy and back again? It was only two concerts but I really dont want to download them again. Thanks for any info.

As long as the MD5 verified, you're OK.

it *sounds* more like a .rar- or .zip-type compression it was using, so you shouldn't have any problems...

i'm sure windows didn't compress yer DVD to VCD or anything...but then again, who knows with microsoft ;) :lol

If you are using XP Pro, it's most likely the NTFS file compression discussed here. (http://www.dslwebserver.com/main/fr_index.html?/main/sbs-win-xp-pro-file-compression.html)
