View Full Version : Sudden stat jump?
FiveString
2006-06-04, 09:33 PM
I noticed that all of a sudden (like since yesterday) my ratio plummeted from about 1.12 to 0.66. I don't pay too much attention to the individual u/l and d/l numbers but I get the feeling that somehow my d/l numbers have been artificially inflated. I simply can't imagine how I could have suddenly jumped by like 50Gb in a day. I don't have that kind of bandwidth, and all my current and recent d/ls have ratios near or greater than 0.5.
Is there any way to examine the details of my stats to understand what happened here?
U2Lynne
2006-06-04, 09:39 PM
Yes, that happened to a few people over the last day or so. I can't examine them, but I think it may have happened as I switched our announce script today. Make note of them now and see how they do by this time tomorrow (it would help me alot to know this). My stats stayed just fine, but then I wasn't 'on' any torrent as I did the change today.
Also, you can send an email to the Contact Us link below telling me what you think they should be and I will manually change them for you. But, can you wait a day so that you can see if this 'stat' trend continues, please? And please comment back here if it does or does not continue. Thanks!

well according to my new stats, which just changed within the last couple of hours, i have downloaded 16million + TB's from here. In the process I have maxxed out the bandwidth on OC3 lines throughout the world and smoked a few hundred hard drives :lol

U2Lynne
2006-06-04, 10:19 PM
No, they didn't. I've just been going through the stats. We've had this weird stats problem before. I'm probably gonna have to reset them to what they were yesterday.
bubbybooshay
2006-06-04, 10:43 PM
well it went from showing me downloading 16,777,000 TB to 956 MB when a few hours ago it was around the 11.5GB it should be, I would say a 16 million TB change is pretty drastic whether its an increase or decrease :lmao:

don't know how much it matters but, my stats say 2.92 gb/906.30mb/0.30
since i joined yesterday, and have only had one torrent here running acording to my client 947.33mb/1.14gb/1.234 and still going. something seems a bit off.
personaly, i don't care as long as i know i'm giving back at least an equal share and not shutting anyone out. just thought i'd make a note of it.

Yeah my stats have moved from a ratio of about 2.2 to 0.6
Hopefully you can fix this up when you get the chance. I'm actually more wondering why I can't seem to download the U2 dvd from LA in 1987 :hmm: , I dunno what the problem there is.
DS
Edit: just noticed what the problem is with my stats - the 3 torrents I'm attached to now all have exactly the same numbers for the amount I've uploaded and downloaded - that just ain't possible. :wtf:

Hi Lynne,
Posted a ratio-gone-haywire note in the section "all ratio issues here". Instead of reprinting it here, hoping you can look at my post there. Thanks in advance for straightening this out. I understand that simply going back to our ratios from a few days ago may be all that can be done now. But hope that once that's done, I can request to have re-added the uploading that I've been doing since then. Keeping track here and will sit tight until the initial fix is made.
Thanks as always.

Something is definitely goofy. Last night I was at 170.85/113.12 and now it's showing 260.54/214.82. I wish I could be moving 100Gb in each direction per day, but it just ain't so...
edit - good grief! The numbers each jumped 10Gb in the time it took to post this message!

I can't deal with this right now, but, what bittorrent client, and what OS, and what else can you tell me about your setup. This is only happened to a couple people so I need to know particulars. I'll get back to this in a couple of days.

Hmm, seems to be ok again, back to a ratio of 2.42 which sounds correct.
I'm sure the stats can be fixed up over time, good luck with keeping this brilliant site going U2Lynne and thanks from all of us.

In the past eight hours my stats changed from 260.54/214.82 to 415.21/319.02 whereas the actual progress on my torrents in that time was probably only 1-2GB in each direction.
I've never had a problem before on this (or any other) site. I'm running WinXP Pro (SP2) and using uTorrent 1.5 (build 437). Three active torrents on TTD and one on Oink.
edit: I also just noticed that despite the fact that I've got three active here according to my client, only one shows up in my profile. I'm going to try to stop all torrents, restart the client and see what happens.

My ratio went south as well. Yesterday it was 1.28. I then started leeching the Donald Fagen show and have seeded more than 184%. Sometime during my leeching my ratio took a nose dive and never recovered. Tried all the usuals stopping, starting no luck.

I just made a change which will hopefully fix this. Zoso, I just zapped you out of the Peers List and hopefully when your client next talks to the tracker, it will connect back up correctly. I'm gonna watch this for a couple of cycles to see if that solved the problem.

Sorry if you have read this post twice. I put it in the "Report all ratio issues" thread a few minutes ago and then found this one. And didn't know which one was more correct, so here it is again:
Glad I noticed this thread. I have noticed the last couple of days my ratio has gone WAY down. I expected it to go down some here lately since my upload is so bad right now, but not this much.
A few days ago it was around 14/7/.50. I don't remember exactly, if I had known there were issues I would have paid more attention. I know the ratio was somewhere between .45 and .50.
Now it is at 30.07 GB/4.97 GB/0.17, which is impossible. I have only been downloading one DVD right now, and it's almost done.
Can you help? If you need any more information let me know.

I had to change one of the queries because of a change I did to the database (peer_id was changed to a binary variable) and I forgot to group the where clause correctly. I think I've got it, but I need to watch things a bit.

I think my stats must have slipped a bit too. I don't keep particularly close tabs on my ratio as long as it's reasonably healthy, but I'm pretty sure it was over 1.7 a couple of days ago, while it's now standing at 1.32. I've downloaded 4 torrents over that period: the 2 I'm still seeding are, according to my client, currently at 1.980 & 0.820, while the other 2 were well over 1.0 by the time interest dropped off. So it looks to me like my ratio should actually have improved. Sorry I can't provide more precise details...

Thanks again, Lynne. The problem is, I don't know how much is missing. I seem to remember my ratio peaked at 1.75 before the blizzard of Norah Jones torrents hit. The last time I looked, while leeching a couple of days ago, it was still at 1.72. I can tell you how much I've downloaded since then (4 torrents plus an extra bit to fix the faulty one) but not how much I've upped. I've got an idea I seeded the 1st one to something like 2.9 and the 2nd one to way over 1.0, the last 2 are currently at 2.069 & 0.992, but I don't have cumulative totals, I'm afraid. Just have to start building again, I guess...

You mean this one: http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/showthread.php?p=366149#post366149 It just got reuploaded because of a missing files. If something happens on a torrent you are on, you should go look at the thread and see if someone posted about a problem. Take a look in the Pulled Video forums for them.

All of a sudden I am firewalled, I wasn't yesterday. I use Bit Tornado and I have green lights. Is is possible this is related to your stats thing?
I use XP with no router, and have made no change in my settings. I already checked your link for windows XP forwarding (http://www.portforward.com/help/personalfirewalls/windowssp2port.htm). Your being firewalled is not in anyway related to what happened to the stats the other day. Everytime you connect to the tracker, it does a quick test to see if you are firewalled. That test has not changed between our trackers. And, you can get green lights even if you are firewalled (at least you can on Azureus).
XP has a built-in firewall. I have a link in my sig on how to forward through it. If you need more help, your best bet it to make your own thread in Technobabble and ask for help there.

However, if I click on the peerlist it does show my name in red... But my upload speed is comparable to, or better than, the other peers listed; and my Bit Tornado is still showing a green light.... Am I truly firewalled? Again, any help or suggestions appreciated.
Note: I leave my XP firewall disabled.

Hey winker, I set you back to 0 (since that is what it was June 3). You had no stats before because you were on AOL. That is one of the reasons why I wanted us to change over to a passkey system. Now everyone should be able to get stats since everyone has their own personalized number.
