My audio editing program of choice is Adobe Audition 1.5. Now that I'm recording 24-bit files with my MicroTrack, I'm having to dither down for when I want to burn a show for someone or put it up for download.
Here's my current setup

Converting the Sample Rate is easy enough, as I've seen the preferred methods for the sample rate on numerous shows. And the resolution is a no-brainer. But I don't really know what I should be doing with the dithering. What should I be setting the Dither Depth (bits) to? It goes all the way up to 99. Not sure why I picked 16.

I don't even know what 'p.d.f.' stands for. I remember hearing somewhere that when dithering, Triangle was the best way to go about it. Is that true, or should I be using one of the other methods?

And what of noise shaping? Is that generally a bad idea, or is there an appropriate time to utilize that?
Thanks in advance for any help.
