and I'm using utorrent v1.2.2 (build 345) on a WinXP machine and I get the error message : tracker sending invalid data

yet I'm connected to the lone seed and one leech and it's coming down at 48+kB/s, so I'm not complaining, but thought the info might be useful to you.
(in a bigger swarm they usually come down at 170+kB/s)
Maybe it'll clear up next scrape like the above situation.... :wave:

(Also, do you know if you got that error before? I tried to optimize both the scrape and announce scripts a bit this morning and I could easily have made a mistake along the line.)

No, I don't ever remember getting that error before....not from this tracker, anyway.
I had decided to quit the torrent just because I don't want to take the ratio hit at this time and didn't want to miss a few other things, but I just tried it again to see and answer your question, and yes, it still said that...
I'll test it with Torrent Storm and see if it's my client, then let you know.
Yup, TS, too, with the exception it uses the term "bad data" rather than "invalid data"...same difference I'm sure....I was connected to peers and it was coming down, though....
I guess if I stayed on we could learn if it keeps my share ratio properly, but there won't be anybody to share to soon...

Also thought you may need to know, they both report the actual scrape as being ok, (but somehow my client reads the data as bad ?)

i noticed as of yesterday my torrents have been firewalled.. all but 1... tested my ports and they are open... any reason why 2 torrents are firewalled and 1 is not..?

I had just shut down and ran one.. now I added another to complete a share back but now the one I added is firewalled but the initial one isnt... seems to relate to multiple torrents running at once..?
no idea... just noticed they all but one went firewalled yesterday...
also my uL speed has been maxxing out at 82~90... would that cause the firewall..? just trying to give back as fast as possible...

Well, I just looked at the two torrents you are on. You are not firewalled when using port 6881, but you are firewalled on the show where you are using port 6882. Could you have not forwarded port 6882?

I just went thru the motions of re-opening the ports... 6881->6889... saving them in the router... seems to be ok now... ummm... too weird... if any one runs across this problem might try redoing your ports just to be sure... guess I should have checked that first, tho I knew you had made changes... wasnt sure where the problem was but it was a "glitch"..?
see how it feels in the end...

Starman, are you sure you are using a torrent that is personalized? I just can't replicate that error (no, I'm not saying it doesn't exist, just that I can't do it here, not even on my kids PC. Damn, I hate trying to troubleshoot sometimes!)

nope, no changes, and Lynne, yes, the .tor must be personalized...I got it after the change went into effect....I'll try a different torrent altogether and see what happens..

So *any* torrent you try gives you an error? How about at Kat's site? And how about other sites? Have you tried flushing your cache?

And, no, we aren't having a prob with your ISP. This site changed nothing (no ports, announce urls, anything, except asked your torrent to add the little 'passkey=xxxx' to the end of the announce url).

I still get that other error I got from yours, Kat about HTTP 500 error....that's all it says HTTP 500 ERROR....

I installed the newest utorrent stable build and still get the same error on Kats' and this error on TTD...
I think what you said about changing my passkey might work, Kat, or something along those lines because I'm pretty sure the trackers are basically saying I'm not a member...

So I have been watching this thread for almost a week now and still can not figure out what I need to do in order to get this running again. Problem is that I am no longer in the tracker. Before passkey I was keeping updated stats, no firewall etc. Now I get horriblel speeds, and I am not on the traker. I have logged out redownloaded the .torrent file, restarted my machine. I am not firewalled, and i have never gotten an error message. :hmm: Any ideas :wave:

Chuffer, open up your torrent file in a text editor (notepad). Look at the first 'line' (up to passkey). Does it look like this (in particular the bold areas).

Starman, I hate to ask again (cuz I could probably read back, but I'm in a rush)... but what bittorrent client are you using? And, have you tried using another one? It sounds like this may be something going on on your end because you are getting strange errors both here and at Kat's. How about at other sites?

I'm using uTorrent here and no errors for me at TTD.

When all else fails completely uninstall the BT program, restart then re-install the BT program. But that's just a suggestion. Mileage may vary.

I tried utorrent 1.2.2 at first because I liked it and it was fine everywhere until Kat's recently and now here....I have uninstalled it and used the search function in my OS Win XP to find every bit of utorrent and get rid of it, I tried Torrent Storm which is never updated anymore but still worked fine everywhere...I tried the latest version of the original BT client, and I'm currently seeding a Tull show at Dime with the latest stable utorrent build (at least I was before I came to work this pm) and still got the same errors ONLY here and Kats tracker ( Kats track fever, ba na na...Kats track fever, ba na na) EVER.....
I use a clean-up software too, to get rid of broken shortcuts, defunct uninstallers, invalid registry keys etc. and I then re-installed my client....
I'll try the DHT thing when I get home.....
I'd tell my kid to try it now, but I don't want to get mad at him if he screws up....I'll try tonight, but prolly won't post about it until tomorrow, as you should all be nighty night by then....

Yea ...so, still no luck. I no longer get my stats updated wher as I did before this whole pass key thing. DO I have to get a new log in name...I am running out of ideas HELP!!!

So, after we moved trackers, you were getting stats in your bt client (after you downloaded the new torrent), right? But, suddenly (today?), you are no longer getting stats either.

And, what client are you using? Is it up-to-date? What OS?

(I apoligize to you and starman for not being right on top of this at the moment. I'm trying to write a cached announce script to hopefully help with our server load and I'm running into problems with it.)

No, I have not had stats kept on the tracker since the change last week. I am stuck at what I had before the change. My client azureus 2.4.0.2 keeps my UL/DL stats. My "face" is blue and I get bad speeds compared to before. And I never got error messages during all of this. I just re-downloaded the torrent and started her up.

my OS partition....not that whole physical disk because I have other stuff on it, but that virtual drive....

I think it was some protective bs that Hitman Pro put on there when I forgot to select the options before the script ran...you can pre-select options in it now and it's been available in English for awhile, too. (which helps a lot ;) )
I think my protocol crap is better configured, too....I'll never remember the names of all that stuff, but I can usually gleen the meaning out of 'em when I read the prompts etc....
