okay I have a problem. I have a couple of Files on my hard drive that I want to help people out with seeding. I haven't screwed with the files or anything like that. I try to seed for the people that are needing my help. When I open my client I get the reading that it is a full DL and it goes to hook up with the leecher but then all the sudden drops them and turns red What is up with this??? And when i'm downloading I can upload but only when i'm downloading!!! Because right when i'm done the uploading quits. I want to stay to seed and want to help other's that are stuck but I can't do it. Help me!!!!! Oh yeah i'm not firewalled

What BitTorrent client are you using?
What country do you live in?
What's your ISP?

My guess is that your ISP prevents BitTorrent upload traffic.

BitTornado
U.S.
Adelphia cable

The weird thing is that sometimes only occasionally I can stay and seed after dowloading but when I try to open a file that needs a seed it'll open and connect with others only for seconds though then drop em'.. SUX!!!!

Will BitTornado allow you to cap your upload speed? You might try setting it to something like 30 and seeing if that helps.

Is capping when you cap off the uploading speed on the client so it doesn't try to uplaod to much at a time?

Yes, capping is when you set a limit on how high it can go.

In your preferences or options. I'm not familiar with BitTornado, so I don't even know if you can do that.

you need to go thru those prefs and or options with a fine tooth comb.....
you might have something on that stops your uploading when you reach a certian ratio.....or maybe something else...

good luck keep us posted....

What torrent are you trying to help out on? If all the other seeds are handling the feed to the clients they may just be checking out your connection and then returning to a more promising seed. I have Adelphia cable and have never been limited or blocked.

I'm trying on every torrent I have and I have about 20 or so but not 1 will let me connect with anybody to seed!!! I just forwarded ports 6881-6889 TCP and UDP on my local area connection I don't know what else to do!! This is driving me crazy!!!!!!!

Have you thought about trying another bittorrent client?

Alrighty I figured it out!!! It was BitTornado I used uTorrent again and it worked fine I even got to stay and seed!! about 50 to 60 KB/s which is good enough I suppose. Better than nothing. I screwed up earlier using uTorrent by taking the partially downloaded files from Tornado and started them up with uTorrent. Something wasn't working right when I did that so I just started one up all on it's own on uTorrent and it worked nicely!! So i'm ready to go now I got my ports open and my new client!! thanks for all the info evryone it was damn useful!!!! Bill :D
