Something is NOT working! I got my router Port Forwarded to 6881-6889
BUT- The advise that I'm getting about my Windows Defender firewall says to set "new rule" for port 55000.
So I did that and things are still SNAFU! (grrrrrr...)
Earlier I was getting the Green for go on my dash panel. I checked by trying to download a torrent- IT WORKED! YAY!! but then i tried up UPLOAD my torrent. The Announce page worked fine and I was able to upload.
I then went to Download my torrent and all my crap fell apart (I didn't change a thing! I SWEAR). NOW a have a great show that I can't start seeding and people are probably pissed at the new dummass on the block.

Suggestions??? PLEASE
Should I completely deleate the bit torrent clients I have, re- download them and start over? It has worked for a couple of Downloads BUT NOTHING UP!
THANKS for all and any help

It is highly recommended to use non-obvious ports for bittorrent applications.

So definately NOT 6881-6889. I would suggest something 5-digits long but also easy to remember (just in case) like 12345 or 222222 or 32123 or 43234 etc.

If you're unsure if the port you're gonna use may be used by some other application - refer to wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_TCP_and_UDP_port_numbers).

Make sure that very port you set in your bittorrent client (if you have more than one client, each has to have different port set) is also opened/forwarded in your router/firewall.

I use https://www.qbittorrent.org/ client and would say depending on your FW/Router if has DMZ option to add your computer's local IP (usually 192.168.X.X). But what might be easier is to get a BitTorrent friendly VPN service and use that. Also protects your actual IP for privacy.

No client ever would be capable to perform well without public IP and ports appropriately forwarded. Just saying.

I too have followed instructions on this site. Any help/suggestions is gratefully appreciated.

I have a green light on uTorrent v2.2.1 but have recently been firewalled here only. The last time I was able to connect and share was 9/5/2025. Nothing has changed since except I cannot connect/share.
