the last batch of 5-10 cd's i've burned suddenly won't play ONLY in my car. I'm using the same burner, software etc as I have for literally 1000s of CDs before this. I cleaned the car cd player, but it will play older cds fine every time---just not the last 5-10 i've burned. Again, the discs play fine everywhere else. I tried making a few more discs, and they will not work in the car either, but do work on other systems. Strange.
Anyone know what could be causing this? I have an inexpensive BenQ DVD/CD burner. Could it be the problem?
Any help is much appreciated!

I should add that with the discs that won't play in the car---1 out of 5 times they will play the 1st song BUT only after reading way too long for the disc info, and if you try to scan to the next song it freezes up---like it's searching for the tracks.
So...
If the car stereo is the problem, why would older discs play fine?
If the burner is problem, then why do the discs play fine in other systems?

Maybe the other systems are more 'forgiving' of the burn errors?

(Kinda like if you want to really test the html of a web page, you don't do it with IE cuz it is way too forgiving and non-standard.)

are the discs a new brand of media for you? have you tried updating the firmware on yer drive recently?

your burner could no longer be calibrated to write the lead in info in the right place (too far out), and the car player isnt able to pick it up correctly.

is it an older car player?

heyitsmejess---
this sounds like the problem---the Jeep is a 2002.
So is the burner ready for the trash, and I should buy a newer better one?

i would. ive had a couple burners take that dive...and a new one was the fix!

you can get excellent dvd/cd burners on the cheap nowdays (less than $50).

i'll order one right now.
suggestions? My BenQ was like $40.
Pioneer and Sony seem like obvious good choices...

well, it turns out to be the opposite of what has been suggested.
tried 2 more burners (NEC & Pioneer) and was still having the same problem, some discs work in car, some don'tat all or have trouble tracking.
The only solution is it must be my car stereo and the read mechanism is slightly off or something. i took the cds that were not working up to Best Buy and tried them on their various demos, and they all work fine in all of them, so I guess it's time for a new car CD player tomorrow morning.
Thanks for the suggestions!

For those wondering, the end result wasn't my dvd/cd burner or my car stereo, it was simply the brand of blanks I was using. For some reason, the car stereo decided HP blanks were no longer to it's liking---wouldn't read some of them. Switched blank cd brand to Maxell and no more problems. The cheapest solution!

This is one of the things I wondering recently, have Maxell started to use a new dye recently for (what they profess are) their 'audio' brand? More speciaifically for their XL-II 80 Pro? Somehow they seem heavier to me? What is everybody else's experience?
