Am I right in thinking that there is no way to xfer tape from camera to PC using a USB cable? TIA

I am not exactly sure what your question is. Yes it is possible to transfer from cam to pc with usb. Although I've never seen a cam that doesn't do it with firewire. I am not sure if you are asking if that camera uses USB. I don't know that camera so I can't answer that.
