Fix your goddamn website. Every time a request is made, there's an error and the website crashes. Every time I upload torrent or event download torrent file, I have to wait for error and refresh the page.
Shame on you, admins!

I'm sure Lynne could use your expertise with coding. Instead of whining, why don't you pm her and offer to help? It's a music site, not trying to find the cure for fucking cancer.

I have only one thing to say to you, Mr. "Moderator" - congratulations on your ignorance.

You're right - it's not cancer research or rocket science or any of those types of things, and certainly nobody paid anything to be here. But it is annoying, and it has been going on for too long. I hoped the change of servers might alleviate the issue, but it appears it hasn't.

It's not the servers, it's the age of the forum software. Lynne doesn't have an easy fix. I agree it sucks.

Actually, shame on you for being such a sourpuss, and an ignorant one at that. Do you actually think we LIKE having server issues?!? If you had actually bothered to ask about what is going on (instead of acting like an entitled asshat), I would have told you. We need to update our server software. And that means, we have to update our forum software. The last time we updated our server software, I did all the php updates to our forum software. It took me a few months to sort it all out and get it tested last time (thanks again to all the testers!). It's been a few years since I have done much php coding and I really don't feel like I can handle doing that all again. If you are volunteering to take that on, then I am more that willing to help you get a stand alone website going (on your own computer that will need to be running php and mysql, of course). If not, then really, shut your ignorant trap up and learn to be a nice person and thankful that you have a free website where you can download some pretty awesome shows that users share for free with you.

:whip:

Thank you to all the rest of you who put up with the ups and downs of our server but grumble about it in a much nicer way.

I had just made a different thread, did not realize this one was here. Sorry about that. Wish I was better at PHP myself but sadly I'm a HTML/CSS guy. I know enough PHP to be dangerous LOL.

:)Let's have passion for the admins guys. In my books, they're very helpful people. NOTHING needs to be blamed on them.:)

When it comes to every time a request is made, and then there's an error and the website crashes and every time you upload torrents or even download torrent files, and you have to wait for error to get fixed and refresh the page, be patient about this stuff! It is NOT at all the admins fault! It is just an accident that randomly occurs! If you're that impatient about that kind of stuff, get a new computer for crap sake or a new wifi router or a new phone or whatever you use!

:)Y'all have a good day!:)

Except it is a sofware problem with the site...nothing to do with the users' computers, routers, or phones.

OK, I'm a moderately generous uploader, and my complaining is usually in private with mostly DCbullet (sorry about that DC). I'm closing in on 1200 uploads which are like 90% my own recordings so I may have earned a little right to complain publicly. The connection reset error is a plague on uploaders, and as I try to put up three samples when I upload the fact that it generates a second error that makes you go select the samples again makes sharing samples the worst part of the site for me. This can happen multiple time in a row too, 5 is the worst I've experienced. As a user and uploader, the fact that it no longer seems to calculate upload amounts properly always makes me paranoid. The search engine for torrents doesn't work properly (although telling it you are looking for an fm first seems to help). This is sometimes necessary for checking if a show that is not my own recording is on the system already. And of course for me (you too?) the Mark This Forum Read selection rarely works the first time. The fact that this is the only forum that allows Merlefest (be quiet about that) and that they let me change my nickname when I started uploading (in order to maintain anonymity) are all that are left of my good will and the temptation to move to DIME increases every time I have to Manage Attachments multiple times.

I hope this was polite enough, there is some underlying crankiness I can't seem to completely hide (a problem IRL too).

Well said, man! I have 2658 uploads here...and every time I add to that total I find myself asking "Why am I still here?". I had one the other day that took me 23 tries to attach the torrent file. And that's only the first step!!! I refuse to go to DIME, but it might be time to start looking at other sites.

The search function works fine. Just have to limit what you put in and check the box "search titles only". For example, if you want Cheap Trick shows, just search 'cheap' (without symbols) and check the box for titles only.

Another option is the tag search by date yyyy-mm-dd. If people key the info correctly on the upload page in the artist name, and not put things like () or opening acts, and use the drop down boxes for the date, you will get the right results.

Anyone that has never heard of MySql should definitely shut their yaps. The custom templates of sites like this one make upgrading components like apache, or MySql tricky to say the least, especially Vbulletin forums with trackers stitched to them. Starting over with something like Gazelle [think redacted or Orpheus] is probably less work, but still requires above average coding skills and plenty of time. Also if you do that, it's unlikely you could import any data, hence you lose your history. Never fails the ones that bitch the most contribute the least.

Hey! If every active member pitched in 3 little dollars, you'd have enough to pay for a whole new site build and have enough leftover to cover a year of the host lease! Simply do a private gofundme, less than a coffee at DD for crying out loud! This Place has given to you for 17 yrs, maybe it's time to give back, instead of abusing the staff.

OK, I'm stuck replying to two messages at once and I can't tell for sure whether the second was addressed to me or the first poster, so take the following with a grain of salt.

Apparently I haven't tried everything regarding search, since I only use it rarely and have a workaround. I go to Search This Forum and enter something (simple) and it goes to an error page as follows:

Your submission could not be processed because you have logged in since the previous page was loaded.

Please push the back button and reload the previous window.

Pushing the back button and reloading of course doesn't help. I admit I have not clicked Search Titles Only, not obvious why that would help except it might get rid of some spurious results. Like I said, clicking fm (probably any Filtering Option) makes the search work.

I do not have experience with databases and their search functions, so I have no idea how much work is involved here, I merely point out one of the issues. You know, your reply seemed crankier than my post. Anyhow, I am all aboard for a fundraiser, and would chip in $6 dollars to cover one slacker (assuming your calculation is correct). I could even be talked into more if I thought it would really help.

I have been having a lot of issues trying to connect to TTD. It is like playing a roulette wheel when I try and connect. When I say try to connect I mean go to the TTD home page, search TTD or follow a link on a TTD page. There is a high probability that I will get a time out error, connection rerset or a server is down error. It has been like this for a couple of years now but the error rate seems to be increasing. The last week it is under 50/50 that I will successfully connect on my first try. I can not be the only one to be experiencing this.

It can't be good for your servers - if I have to keep sending requests because of the errors. Is there anything that can be done to address the problem?

BTW no VPN is involved.

BTW 2 got a connection reset error trying to post this
