Hello all, just looking for recommendations for a software for mastering and tracking my recordings.

I used to use Sony Vegas but I’ve switched to Mac.

I still have access to my PC if need be, but would prefer to become more experienced using my Mac as I already use it for all of my video needs.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Tom

Any recording software / DAW will offer mixing and matering capabilities to some degree. I'm not in the industry anymore, but ProTools, Logic, Cubase, Ableton Live were all standard DAWs used a decade ago. Personally I preferred using Ableton Live + iZotope VSTs.

For basic mixing /mastering there are plenty of folks using freeware like Audacity for the task. When it comes to audience recordings, it's more about how you use the tools at hand as opposed to what software you're using. And a good set of cans, a critical ear, lots of practice, etc......ymmv but a general rule of thumb -- less is more
