It ain't a G5 ;)

Seriously though, that's a bummer to hear. Transmission (http://transmission.m0k.org/) is a universal binary so you may want to give that a shot.

The Mainline client is not (AFAIK) a Universal Binary so even if it does work, it'll have to run via Rosetta and take a performance hit.

Transmission does work on my Intel Mac although it seems to be one feature poor client. :disbelief

Azureus would not run for me either, manually trying to run the .jar file produces an odd little error I haven't tried to track down yet.

The client that shopkin linked to appears to be the official client, but it seems to be missing quite a lot from a normal distribution. (The non-gui version, the headless client, etc -- and is a (PowerPC) binary rather then a python script like I would have expected.)

Jazzbo, there's a hacked version available for 10.4.3 here (http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=4814&st=40) but I have no idea if it'll fly under 10.4.4. There's a bit of explanation as to what the problem is here (http://episteme.arstechnica.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/8300945231/m/257008327731).

BTW, have you got an MBP or an iMac ?

Excellent -- the hacked version worked perfectly. Thanks for the tip!

For anyone else who tries this, check the note on setting the execute permissions. All I needed was to download the patched version and set the execute bit. Also you should update your JDK link to 1.5.0 or it will warn you about the old Java version. It runs with either however. Green light and everything.

The iMac. From what I'm hearing the MBP won't ship until sometime next month at the very earliest. It's pretty nice -- although I haven't spent a lot of time on the new (post OS X) macs other then playing around with my brother's ibook. I got the 20" and coming from the screens I'm used to it is ginormous.

And I've had pretty good luck with the few little apps I've tried in Rosetta mode -- hardly notice any slowdown, but then again I haven't tried any games or big tools like photo/video editors.

That's good to hear.

Very much looking forward to hearing from you how well EAC behaves under vmware, Virtual PC, Qemu, Darwine etc. when they all become viable :)
