Hi, everyone. I did a search but saw nothing recent about this.

I'd like to keep a bunch of lossless WAVs or FLACs on an iPod-like portable-hard drive device so that I can play them on the boat this summer without having to fiddle with my phone.

Bluetooth not necessary, just a mini-plug is needed. Simplicity would be the best so that others can browse the available shows.

Are there any portable players still out there that could be used for this, even used on eBay?

I've been using a SanDisk Clip Jam. Plays WAV and MP3. Has 8GB internal memory and takes microSD cards too. They are cheap and the battery lasts a long time. There's no rockbox for it, so you'd have to convert flacs to wav or mp3 but its a nice little unit and basically disposable for the price.

Most/all work off solid-state memory, not HDD, but models like the FiiO can take single or twin Micro SD cards, so you can swap a number of cards in and out of the unit

SanDisk Cruzer SDCZ36032GB35 32GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive

I use this in my truck. Holds a ton of WAV and Mp3's.

I have a FiiO, and a credit-card sized holder for the Micro SD cards, which takes eight cards, and fits in my wallet if required.
