again...it's me

I solve the problem with my torrent but now I have 1 question and 1 problem

Question

can someone explain to me what is RATIO?...I can see that it has something to do with the upload but I haven't really understand what it is exactly...

Problem

in the topics, where I can find the peers list, I see next to the users ports something like this

66.190.33.xxx(6881)

and SOMETHING like this

24.8.157.xxx(6881)

or like this

62.253.240.xxx(52000)

what is the difference?...I have opened the 6881 port, as UDP AND as TCP protocol...from my router AND from windows xp.
the red numbers are the ports that I must open?
I have read many articles about how torrents work and I haven't got the entire thing yet.all the articles were talking only about ports 6881-6889...
can someone help me with these?...

p.s. sorry about the many questions... :)

Ratio is your uploaded amount divided by your downloaded amount.

6881-6889 were spare a while back, so torrents picked up on them, but now they're blocked by many ISPs, so maybe try something else.
I think 5200 is for BitTornado

I dunno. I've been on many things and none of them ever show how much I've REALLY uploaded/downloaded through them. This one shows 1.61mb/0mb, but I'm deffinately way higher on both. BitSoup never showed a single Byte of my Seeding or Leeching.

nope....close client 1

open Bitlord....open .torrent file.

When it asked you where to save...point it to the same directory that BitSoup was saving that show to.

It will "check" the old folder and then start where you left off...eg 38%

To summarize, Red ports are bad, mmmm kay?

If you are seeing red ports, you are firewalled and need to forward your ports.

www.portforward.com

Read thru this site - it will walk you through it step by step for just about any program and/or router out there.

Ratios not updating: You are probably getting a show that was uploaded before July 2, 2005. All of these shows are on our old tracker that does not support the ratio feature.

Never used BitLord myself so no comment.

I believe that you can stop and restart torrents with any client - it is an inherent feature of the BitTorrent delivery method.

My suggestion... get BitLord

This is a bad suggestion, and the reason why you upload/download rate is so low.

While Bit Lord is great for it's capability to support some NAT to NAT firewalled downloads, it has been banned by most trackers and if not already banned, then frowned upon.

Why? Because the code of BitLord hammers the tracker with multiple announcements. This repetitive hammering will cause the tracker to "give up" and stop keeping track of your upload/download amounts and ratio. Of course this is 180 degrees away from the sharing way...

Didn't know that. Probably why his ratio isn't updating too!

wow...what was that with the BitLord??... :wtf:

so...I am going to remove it when I complete the two shows I'm downloading...

but what programm is good for this forum...can you suggest me something?...

...and if you can tell me a programm that is steady with the most sites...in every page I'm opening, I read about a programm that is best than the other...

so...I must remove BitLord...( :( it was good...darn...I had good speed)

I use BitComet
www.bitcomet.com
Easy to use, low on resources (unlike Azareus)

Bittornado seems to be reliable and dosen't "hammer" the trackers.
