I am about to get started in trading dvd ausing both trades and some b & p offers. I am really new to this and nt sure what dvd's to buy. I have looked around the site for a description of all the different types, but haven't found one so far. Could somebody point me in the right direction so I could buy the best thing once and not the wrong stuff over and over.

Thanks for any help,

Zach

The first thing to point out is that the only shows you can buy legally are real, retail coppies of those recorded by a proper music label.

I'm pretty sure he means which DVD media to buy. :lmao:

Qstick: One of the things you might have to experiment with a little bit is which media works best with your burner. So, I'd suggest buying a small quantity of one brand and making sure it works well with your burner so you're not out of pocket too much dough.

With that being said, I like Fujifilm DVD's - specifically the ones that say "Made in Japan" on them.

Basically if its Sony, Infiniti, TDK or Fuji, its a safe bet.

I don't know how things are now, but at first it seemed DVD+ was the new VHS while DVD- was the new Betamax. So obviously I use DVD+

I was wondering which dvd media to buy. Where would a good place be to get the Japanese Fuji DVD's? Is there a reputable mail-order place/ Also - where on the label would it say made in Japan?

Thanks for all your help,l

I use Japanese Taiyo Yudens only...
but I accept the following in trades (the country of manufacture is important):
1ST CLASS MEDIA
Almost flawless burns with 95-100% reliable results:
PVC = Pioneer (Japan) = (-R)(-RW) ... media is no longer made
MXLRG0x = Maxell (Japan) = (-R)(-RW)
YUDENT, TYG0x = Taiyo Yuden (Japan) = (-R)(+R)
MCC, MKM = Mitsubishi Chemicals (Singapore/Taiwan) = (-R)(-RW)(+R)(+RW)
TDK, TTG0x, TTH0x = TDK Corp (Taiwan/Japan) = (-R)(-RW)
SONY0xD = Sony (Japan/Taiwan) = (-R)(-RW)

I actually just got a 100 pack of TY's in today...supermediastore also included 3 free highlighter pens for me :)

i usually order from either http://www.supermediastore.com or http://www.rima.com ...the best you can buy are the Taiyo Yuden's mentioned above...other brands i've used with little problems are the Fuji's [made in japan only], TDK, and Sony.

check this thread periodically for deals on media...quite a few links to online stores as well

:lol: true chachi, but Japanese Fujis are just TYs with a different branding :cool:

Qstick--in all honesty, if you want consistent high quality media, Taiyo Yuden's are the only way to go
