Why is my downloaded data going up, when all I'm doing is uploading?

Last night, my stats read; (0.98 GB/45.85 GB/46.87)

All I've done since then is upload two shows, and my stats now read;
(1.11 GB/48.39 GB/43.67)

In the few minutes between logging in and writing this, the downloaded figure has gone from 1.08Gb to 1.11Gb, and all I've done is look at the screen.

The only torrents I have open in my client are those which I uploaded in the last two days; all my older uploads are stopped.

...and, since writing the above, I've stopped EVERYTHING in my torrent client, and the DL figure has climbed to 1.30Gb ... and the upload figure has gone up to 48.62Gb.

How can the stats be changing, when I've stopped all activity ... ?

..and, a few days later, my download figure has climbed to 1.76Gb, despite me only having uploads. Am I missing something?

Yes, it takes a while for the server to process all that information. Real-time updates are not possible because of the time lag.

It's not delayed action that I'm talking about.

I'm uploading shows. I have all the data already, and I'm expecting it go to one way - to the tracker, not back to me.

I'm expecting my download figure to stay still, because there's no reason for me to download anything for a show for which I'm the uploader/first seeder/originator for.

OK, I've had a looksee at what Vuze is showing, and one of the most recent examples is;

410Mb is the size of the torrent, so on the face of it, it seems to be downloading the equal of one copy of the whole torrent for every show. But why ... ? It's already there, surely I'm telling it to upload it?

Relax and don't make this heart surgery. There is and always will be a lag in the stats. As long as you have a good ratio then you have no worries . . .
