Im looking for a way to check dvds/cds (mostly dvds) to check them to make sure they will play and have no errors. I know I can do checksums, and then re run them (sometimes I dont have them, or its not a cd/dvd with a checksum type file), but is there a program that will just scan through it for me?

I think someone said something about "CD Check" awhile ago?

Thaaaaaaaanks.

If you're using Toast Toto I use the "Compare" function under Utilities. Drag the original VIDEO_TS and burned VIDEO_TS into the window in their respective locations.

I used to do this: make checksums for every burned disc and visually compare them with the checksums for the downloaded files, but that takes a while. I have found that if the "compare" checks out, the md5s are the exact same (I used to compare and make md5s, very time consuming). And this makes it easier because when Toast sometimes changes the .bup and .ifo I don't need to take an md5 of the whole disc, just those 2 small files. Also, have the program "verify" the disc after it's burned under Recorder > Recorder Settings > Advanced. I also turn on buffer underrun protection and DAO (obviously).

No man, you can do all that stuff with Toast (Mac). You don't need no stinkin' PC!

For those VIDEO_TS files, just make an md5 of them and compare them with a few from some shows you may have downloaded. Use xACT to make the md5.

If the download isn't completed you may be SOL. An individual file may be if you were pretty far along. You can also just compare the individual files within your VIDEO_TS folder and a few threads but similar/identical contents here may be common (.bup .ifo etc).
