View Full Version : Watching PAL DVD's on a NTSC T.V.

I just recently bought a JVC DVD player that can play both PAL and NTSC format. While watching a concert in NTSC format, I have no problems. However, when watching a concert in PAL format (mostly downloaded from Bit Torrent sites), as the concert progresses, the audio and video get out of synch. It seems that the video slows down while the audio stays the same speed. (This happens with all of my PAL format concerts, not just one).

Pressing "pause" or "slow rewind/forward" and "play" again seems to get them back in synch (annoying!), but it seems to always start again later on.

Has anyone ever had this problem? Although my T.V. is somewhat old (10 years), I've never had a problem with DVD playback. Could it be I just need to upgrade my T.V.? Or is this just a fact of life of watching PAL videos on a NTSC television? Any feedback or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know. I thought if the DVD player played them it converted it before sending the signal to your TV.

You can look here until someone who knows comes along...
