How to Create

I recently recorded a show with my smartphone. The sound is pretty good as it was captured from about 20ft. When downloaded to my computer it came up MPEG4. Thus unable to share here. How can I created a second channel to five me a pseudo stereo sound? Thanks.

Everything goes fine until I go to the drop down to select the L and R channel. I am not able to select the channels as they are not highlighted.

may be an issue due to mp4 file format [i've never worked with mp4 audio]

try this:
open your mono mp4 file in Audacity, go to File > Export > format drop down "WAV" > Save
then open the wav file in Audacity and try the above process

1. Left hand side that has the file details - click on this (track selection will go grey) > Edit > Copy
2. Click on the same place in your new stereo channel (the one that's empty) > Edit > Paste

If the recording is mono, leave it in mono.
