You need a newsreader program and a news server (NNTP). Which operating system do you use ?

In that case I hear good things about NewsLeecher (http://www.newsleecher.com/) and NewsBin Pro (http://www.newsbin.com/) but google "newsreader" and have a dig around. Your ISP may provide a news server but it'll probably be fairly crappy and this (http://www.anchordudes.com/) is a good place to investigate premium (paid for) servers. If you are going to use an ISP provided server you'll probably need QuickPar (http://www.quickpar.org.uk/).
