Hey there!

Been around some time. Just wanted to throw in this question:

Are there any good quality (new?) DVD recorders out there in 2015/16 for doing VHS transfers?

Not being a big fan myself from those devices, but i've had a Panasonic which did basically a great job. And a couple of years ago some filmers on TTD had nice set ups doing very good jobs in terms of quality.
Basically i dont have much time anymore for doing professional VHS transfers through DV/PC with all the needed editing, encoding etc. (i still do though for important analog sources), so i'm looking for getting a kick-ass DVD recorder, so i can kinda just press "Play" and "Record".

What would be needed:
Audio in LPCM for at least 60min(XP) modus / flexible time recording / harddisc recording with the option to cut out commercials and unneeded pre-/post show stuff

Are there other cool options to go for? Are those recorders still on the market?

Any cool and experienced answer would be nice, thank you!

I'm pretty sure your only option is to buy a used model on eBay because these devices went out of production years ago.

Panasonic still make them. Available in the UK, at least.

Yeah, Panasonic is still acive in recorders like that, check their german site:

http://www.panasonic.com/de/consumer/home-entertainment/blu-ray-set-top-box/recorder.html

But their focus now is more on HD, streaming etc., i dont have any clue if they are still very good at quality analog transfers? Thats why i would like to hear some others' thoughts on this.

My machines are maybe 5 or 6 years old, and I have no complaints.

Same here in the US. The quality is only as good as the master, My Sony is dependable and is a great link to analog land . . . Going on 6 years . . . The specs on my old VHS recorders were studio quality . . . but it all comes down to the final product . . .
