View Full Version : Unable to verify MD5's

I'm having a problem here. I'm trying to create MD5 checksums for a DVD Video I am going to seed on TTD (I'm using MD5summer). I can create MD5 with no problem, but when I click on it to verify, it loads up mkwACT and stops stating "Unable to load md5sum.dll". This is also happening when I click on the MD5 for audio SHN files. However I can decode SHN's to WAV w/ no problems w/ mkw audio compression tool. Anyone know what's going on, and what I can do? Thanks!!

try trader's little helper (link in my signature)

make sure you get the update at the bottom and install that too

O.k., saw the little "confused" icon you left FIVE, bascially when I go to Windows Explorer, click on a show file, see the MD5 icon, and click on it, that's when mkwACT loads and displays the "Unable to load md5sum.dll", when normally it goes though each SHN/FLAC file and verifys. But it won't do that anymore.

Anyway....

Yes, I actually just installed Trader's Little Helper w/ the update. So now that I have Trader's Little Helper, can I just get rid of the old mkwACT? I would be able to decode/encode/verify, etc. any SHN files to WAV & vice versa w/ just Trader's Little Helper? When I installed TLH, it mentioned that it works directly w/ Flac Frontend, shntool, etc. Should I have all these programs installed as well so TLH can use them? (I don't have shntool, nor know anything about it). I'm trying to read up on this program and learn more. This stuff is always a little confusing at first, at least for me. Thanks FIVE and anyone else for your help. I appreciate it! Any more help you can provide would be great. Thank you.

TLH will be able to do everything EXCEPT encode from .wav > lossless, and no you don't need to install any other programs for it to work. i would make sure that windows has TLH as its default program to run .md5/.ffp/.st5 when you click on them. other than that you should be good to go...its a great program!

in answer to the mkwACT question, you can get rid of it if you want or just leave it, but most likely if yer ever needing to encode files to lossless, you will probably use .flac [flac frontend] instead .mkw or .shn [mkwACT]...

^what he said

keep flac frontend

btw mkwact is no longer being developed so I don't recommend it to anybody these days

I have a separate problem with Traders' Little Helper. When I try to create st5's for SHN files, I always get this error:

cannot read data from file '01 - Track01.shn' (it may be unsupported, truncated or otherwise corrupt).

I don't have this problem doing st5's for WAV or FLAC.

Just got rid of mkwACT, and TLH has taken over w/ no problems. Seems like a nice program. I don't convert WAV files to SHN anymore, I've been using FLAC for sometime. I was just having problems verifying any old SHN files' MD5 sigs. So now when I create MD5 checksums for DVD-Video seeding, I should have no more problems verifying them. Thanks for all your help!!
