Hi
I have been trying to share downloads for about a month unsuccessfully. I wondered if nobody likes the music I downloaded, so I downloaded a couple of the newly listed to see if I could seed those.

There has been only limited success, now I have a terrible ratio and have only uploaded 8GB. I have even tried to untick the upload speed but I have no hope of achieving a 1 to 1 ratio or better.

I want to cooperate. How can I make my ratio acceptable to the admins please?

We have very oppressive laws starting where the government is forcing ISP's to capture all customers emails and web activity for 2 years in the name of terrorism and indecent P*** which is a worry.

tks

I'm not an admin, but they say that share ratio isn't enforced here so you shouldn't worry about it. Other users might make fun of your share ratio, but the people in charge don't care.

@John Roberts; You sure seem to be doing all the right things, and thanks for that, but perhaps there is a technical issue that is hampering your efforts to maintain a good ratio.

I would search some of the "port forwarding" and "firewalled" help threads here to see if you may have a technical issue that prevents your upload speed to be all it could be.

Here's a good place to start:

Good luck!

Are you trying to seed shows that have leechers? And are you firewalled at all?

Thanks everyone for your replies.

No, I am not firewalled, and have been working with Linux iso torrents since Fedora version 5. Can you see me sure can see the port is open.

I'm new to VPN use, but where there is a well seeded file like Fedora iso I can get over 1 mb per second download. Many others will download 700 - 800 or higher.

I think popularity is a key factor, like Hendrix, Beatles, Free and other high interest artists seem to download fast.

I appreciate the site, the people are friendly and a good sense of community.

I had a membership of another private site where seeding & good ratio was rigidly enforced, but if nobody wanted a copy of what you had, admins were happy, as it was dependent on hours seeded, not whether anyone downloaded it.

I was wondering if hours / days seeded mattered to the admins

Privately I'm worried about the rush with poorly thought out laws in Australia

tks again.

The VPN might be limiting your access, but are you keeping your downloaded torrents open for a long time?

Hi
Yes, the downloads are made available, pretty well every day - for all day and night. Now I have the msg its Firewalled, canyouseeme times out - not too sure I trust its assessment to be honest.

I went to port forward, I don't like that site, and they basically just want you to buy their software.

I like open source software, so I'm fiddling with Linux distros and having an OS tied up in the hope of sharing with others stops me experimenting with Linux.

Hey John, I'm in Oz also. On the off chance the VPN is causing your problem; I don't worry about VPNs for ROIOs as they're not commercial releases. If I was illegally downloading then I'd be using a VPN. Maybe, as the copyright on the music we get via here and similar sites is held by someone, things will change in the long run. Until they do, I'm going to keep on as I have. You could try connecting without the VPN just to see if it makes a difference...

...and don't let anyone bagging you out for a shitty ratio bother you (I've been known to do it, often at times) in the lounge or anywhere else, it's more of a leisure activity than a serious issue.
